2010 PROGRAMS OVERVIEW - Summer Programs (Note: Extended Care Available) Join us for another summer of fantastic fun! All of our programs are appropriate for kids aged 5-15. Students will be grouped by age. While we can't promise, we'll make every effort to schedule friends together if you note this request on your registration form.This summer, we are featuring A VERY SPECIAL WEEK AT HOGWARTS, beginning July 5, 2010, and running each consecutive week through the end of the month. A VERY SPECIAL WEEK AT HOGWARTS is an experience of a lifetime for Harry Potter fans. Where else can you don your wizard's cloak and be Sorted by a real Sorting Hat that has a conversation with you! There are loads of special effects in this full day camp, interesting characters and surprise visitors weekly. The school is magically transformed into a castle-like setting, complete with antiques, House Common Rooms and an over-the-top atmosphere that is second to none. Students will take courses such as Potions, Divination, Defense Against the Dark Arts, TriWIzard Tournament, Quidditch, Herbology, and more! Sorting Ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning. We will serve a feast at lunchtime Friday, which will be followed by the ever popular Wizard Bowl competition, as well as the final Quidditch tournament! This is the original Hogwarts camp in the area. It is not uncommon for kids to describe a week at this camp as, "the best experience in my LIFE!" Hurry, this one fills up FAST!Concurrently, we will also be offering full day ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT CAMPS the weeks of July 5, 12 and 19. Imagine the best of our creative Enrichment camps, combined with the structure and full day nature of our Academic camps! We'll be offering CSI: Forensic Science Week 1, Physics/Engineering Boot Camp Week 2, and our ALL NEW Mission: Atlantis Week 3. Note Week 4 is Hogwarts only. Check out the descriptions of these programs below! They're all science-based, packed full of experiments, hands on activities and some mystery- and problem-solving thrown in just for kicks!WEEK ONE July 5-9, 2010 &bull A VERY SPECIAL WEEK AT HOGWARTS Has Been Cancelled July 5-9, 2010 &bull CSI: FORENSIC SCIENCE Become a member of Team CSI at Summer Kampers! All week long, we will use scientific experiments and techniques to analyze evidence to determine which suspect is the likely culprit! Examples: We will perform experiments and activities such as analysis labs for handwriting, body language, fingerprinting, DNA, mammal tracks, soil pH, chromatography, forensic denistry, plastic and latent prints! Students will use clues to analyze evidence. They will learn to interpret data to identify a prime suspect, and the difference between evidence and inference as they solve each case. In most cases, there isn't one correct answer. WEEK TWO July 12-16, 2010 &bull A VERY SPECIAL WEEK AT HOGWARTS or July 12-16, 2010 &bull PHYSICS/ENGINEERING BOOT CAMP Ready for some excitement? We sure are! This week we will combine physics, engineering and rocketry to produce some of the most fun hands on design, build and destruct activities out there! Camp will include activities such as build a motor, build a bridge, test its capacity and demolish it! We will explore rocketry, which may include paper stomp rockets Alka Seltzer Fizz Pops, water and air-powered rockets which we'll design and build ourselves. Other possible activities: Design a better candy bag, Sticky Situation Science/finding the best glue for the job, Design, build and race a sailboat, and one of our favorites, save that egg using a parachute, a crashing car or both! This one will be action packed! WEEK THREE July 19-23, 2010 &bull A VERY SPECIAL WEEK AT HOGWARTS or July 19-23, 2010 &bull ALL NEW!! MISSION: ATLANTIS When you sign up for this week, you become a technician on the Atlantis Team. All new this summer, we will begin study of the ocean and move to freshwater. From Tsunamis to seismology we will learn geologic and oceanographic principles then use our new knowledge to perform experiments and activities which will help us problem solve issues which come up in the world of Atlantis.
